TATIANA KOUGUELL-HOELL
Tatiana Kouguell-Hoell (She/Her/Hers) is a writer, producer and educator. She is passionate about storytelling through playwriting and screenwriting. Through her work she examines the world of women+ today through a blend of socio-political rigor, whimsical magical realism, and stylized poeticism.
She received her BA in Screenwriting and Playwriting from SUNY Purchase College. She received her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University, where she studied with playwrights David Henry Hwang and Lynn Nottage. While developing her thesis play, Bleecker Street Brides, she worked with mentor, Sarah Ruhl. Her previous studies include Prague Film School, the University of Amsterdam, and Stella Adler Studio for Acting. In 2023 she was a finalist for the Stove Works Residency, and in 2022 a semi-finalist for the Women’s Playwrights Circle at Sperenza. In 2021 she was a finalist for the Center at West Park Residency, and the recipient of the Denis Diderot (A-I-R) Grant as an artist-in-residence at Chateau D’Orquevaux in France. Currently, she is a lecturer and advisor in Playwriting and Screenwriting for the Playwriting and Screenwriting program at Purchase College, and a Story Director for Written Out Loud.
Her plays and written work have been performed at La MaMa ETC, Irvington Theater, The Tank Theater, Chateau Orquevaux, Emerging Artists Theatre’s New York Series (COVID prohibited), Lenfest Center for the Arts, Schapiro Theater, The Studio Theater, Purchase College and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She lives in New York City.
